-    Led Stormwater and Nature-Based Solutions Practice for 70 affiliated staff. Set national technical direction, provided specialist oversight, mentored staff, developed conference strategy, publications, and research.
-    Led sales strategy for top tier pursuits for regional offices, winning community-wide planning projects in Vancouver, BC; Seattle, WA; Los Angeles, CA; and Los Angeles County.
-    Consulted with cities, utilities and regional consultant teams on utility and watershed planning and policy, climate resiliency, and stormwater management.
-    Founded and led the company’s Equity Community of Practice.
-    Developed first protocols for incorporating equity considerations into project work.
-    Authored BC’s first Equity and Environmental Justice and Nature-Based Solutions Lens, Toolkit and Training Materials.
-    Served on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG), Climate Initiative, One Water, and Connected Planning leadership committees.

 

Program Manager, Urban Watershed Management Program
San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, CA, 2005 - 2017  

Founded San Francisco’s Urban Watershed Management Program; led all aspects of programs, policies, and projects.
-    Grew inter-disciplinary team from one to ten staff with an annual budget of $1M.
-    Led stakeholder and public engagement with city and state agencies, community
stakeholders, elected officials, and regulators.
-    Led Civic Center Sustainable Utilities District Plan and the building-scale non-potable
reuse demonstration project (the Living Machine) at SFPUC’s headquarters at 525
Golden Gate Avenue.
-    Submitted winning application for the 2012 U.S. Water Prize.
-    Conducted regulatory reporting and presented to public officials, senior managers, and inter-agency partners.

 

Led the Urban Watershed Assessment, the $2B collection system planning component of SFPUC’s $6.9B, 20-year Sewer System Improvement Program.
-    Directed five- to fifteen-person teams of staff and consultants.
-    Developed technical strategy and oversaw collection system planning integrating green and grey infrastructure with climate and social factors.
-    Planned, designed, and implemented $64M worth of green infrastructure demonstration projects.
-    Created Watershed Planning Game used as part of SSIP. Won the 2013 award for Outstanding Public Involvement/Education Program by the Association of Environmental Professionals.
-    Developed stormwater and non-potable water policies, conducted green infrastructure performance monitoring and studies, conducted public outreach, and oversaw regulatory compliance.
-    Managed staff and consultants for a non-structural flood risk reduction program. Created a residential grant program, improved engagement with flood insurance agents, and recommended building code updates.
